We have a show tomorrow in Manhattan with Crime In Stereo and then we are home for 10 days to take a small break. I do not usually blog when I am not on tour. Instead of blogging via text, I am going to put up a whole bunch of videos that I took on the past few tours. Keep checking back for updates within the next week and a half.
I haven’t had internet in a few days. Things are going well. The shows have all been great, especially the one we played in Augusta, Ga with Veara. I love all of those guys/girl. Last night was the last date of our tour with Crime In Stereo but we will be playing with them in Manhattan in a few days. Tonight is Averman’s last show at VA beach. I’m super excited about this show because I really enjoy Averman. RIP. It’s time to get on the road.
March 16, 2010 - Tuesday. Josh hooked it up at Chipotle in Orlando. I got a Salad with carnitas and some chips. The show was absolutely amazing. So many people were there and and most of the seemed to be excited! I saw my great childhood friend Mary. I’m so glad she made it out to the show. Mary is always lots of fun.
After the show we went to Steak N Shake. The cookies n cream shake is great! I then passed out for about 8 hours.
March 17, 2010 - Wednesday. Happy St. Patty’s Day! Woke up in Columbia, SC. We got a hotel room. Showered. Browsed the inter web. Bought 3 packs of cigarettes for $8.30. Got Chinese food with Johnny, Nick, and Gary. Ate tofu general tso’s. Went to the show around 5 and it was a great one. Well drinks for $1. Had 4 or 5 rum and cokes. I was a bit buzzed since the rad bartender made my drinks super stiff. Left the show and went to Waffle House. I got a waffle and a chicken biscuit. Now at the hotel.
We chilled out all day at Jared’s house in Boca. I cleaned out the van because it was a shit hole and it smelled like sewage. Now it looks great and smells like Hawaiian breeze. Left for the show around 3:30. It was supposed to be an hour drive to Pembroke Pines but it took like 2 because of terrible traffic. I didn’t mind since it was so beautiful outside. My playlist for the van was Alkaline Trio - This Addiction, The Menzingers - A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology, and The Loved Ones - Keep Your Heart. The show was great. Lots of friendly people, lots of great bands, good reactions, exciting, fun times. All of the bands that played were super friendly. I’m excited to play with Go Rydell again tomorrow in Orlando. I enjoy Florida. After the show we ate at the world’s worst Waffle House. I never thought I’d put the words “worse” and “waffle house” together in one sentence ever… On the ride to Jared’s we listened to Living With Lions - Make Your Mark and Like Lions - Discography. Charlie also read us interesting facts of of his iPhone. Great night!
Spend 4 hours driving to Harvest of Hope. Beer. Met up with my friend Dave from Cleveland, OH. Beer. Walked around for a while and just scoped out a bunch of bands I didn’t know. Beer. Watched Smoke Or Fire. Beer. Went back to camp and slayed some brews with the dudes in We Are the Union. Went to watch Billy Bragg. He absolutely killed it. Great show. Went back to camp to drink more beer. Met a few of the dudes from The Snips. Walked around primitive camp and it was a war zone. Went back to the van and called Emma for a bit. Crashed at 12:45 which was way earlier than I wanted to go to bed but was sooooooooo tired.
March 14, 2010 - Sunday
Casey, Josh and I woke up mega hung over around 11. Chugged a water. All of us went to eat lunch together. The burger wasn’t bad but the potato salad looked like it had been sitting around for days. I did not eat it. Went back to the van and called my parents since I haven’t talked to them in a few days. Good conversation. 2PM. First beer of the day. 2:55PM. Beer. Watched Broadway Calls. Beer. Walked around. Watched like 5 songs of The Loved Ones set then had to go set up to play. The Loved Ones were so good. I wish I could have watched their whole set. I felt like our set went really well. A lot of people kept piling in throughout our set. If anyone has our set on film, hit me up. Met the dudes in Broadway Calls. They were super nice and liked our set which made my day. I then watched The Menzingers. GREAT. Got an awful headache. mid-day hangover? Ate dinner with my band. Pulled pork, baked beans, corn on the cob, and pita. Pretty good. Watched a few Small Brown Bike songs because everyone hyped them up all weekend but unfortunately I was not impressed. The sound was terrible and I got bored quick. Went to the van, called M, took a nap. Drove. Soupy puked in bag in the van. The sound was so gross.
March 15, 2010 - Monday
Early AM. Got back to Jared’s place in Boca Ratan. Going to bed.
Tampa, FL. Was supposed to see an old friend tonight. It didn’t work out for stupid reasons. Bummer. My left eye is killing me. It turns out that I have a stye. The show was great tonight. I had a great time on stage. Crime In Stereo killed it once again. A dude named Romeo kissed my hand and said we played great. It was kinda strange but whatever. On the drive here I finished season 2 of Lost. Things are starting to get real exciting. I took an hour nap in the van and ever since I woke up, I can’t stop coughing. Boca Ratan, FL. At Jared, Kelli, and Charlie’s house. Just showered and took some nyquil.
Watched a bunch of Lost today. I am currently on episode 17 of the second season. I still have a lot of catching up to do. Jacksonville is not usually a good market for us but tonight was pretty cool. Crime In Stereo absolutely killed it. The sound was great. I am trying to get more videos up sometime this week from The Upsides release tour. Time to shower!
I’ve been slacking on the updates lately but that is because I’ve been preoccupied having lots of fun. I’m really excited that we are on tour with Crime In Stereo. They are a great band and it’s awesome that I get to see them play every night for free. Sweet dudes too. We are now in Cincinnati. WE HAVE ADDED A SHOW TONIGHT IN COVINGTON, KY BECAUSE OF LAST NIGHT’S SOLD OUT SHOW. Sorry to anyone who was turned away last night. We have no control of these kind of things. Please come out tonight to hang with us. It will be a great show.
March 3, 2010. We started our tour with Crime In Stereo. The Note in West Chester, PA is a rad venue. After the show we drove to Millersville, PA to hang with Josh’s college friends. I fell asleep rather quickly. Woke up an hour later. Ben Roth and I traded music. I’m happy with a lot of the stuff he gave me. Bed.
March 4, 2010. Woke up a little late. Walmart trip. Watched 3 episodes of Lost in the van. I am only on the 5th episode of the 2nd season. I’m trying to catch up as soon as possible. Got to the venue around 4. Our lock was stuck to our trailer. It took like 20 minutes to get the lock off. Played the show. Tried a new song in the set and it was a little rough around the edges. It should be better next time we play it now that we got the kinks out. Crime In Stereo killed it. I got their new CD tonight and am excited to listen to it. We are now at Drew’s place on Penn State campus. I’m beat.
